Getting Started

What This Bot Does

What the bot is, what you need before you start, and the three steps to a first trade.

Risbot places trades on your Bybit account and gives you the controls in a Telegram chat. You say what a trade may lose, as a percentage of your balance; it works out the position size, the leverage and the stop, and it turns down any trade your own rules do not allow. Sizing, scaling in, moving targets, closing and performance all happen on panels in that one chat.

Messaging the bot is the signup

Creating your bot account takes no form, no email, no password and no operator who lets you in. The first message you send to one of our bots creates it - your settings, your risk rules and an exchange connection that is not linked to anything yet - and it happens as that message arrives, before the bot has replied.

There is no other way in, either. An account belongs to whoever messaged the bot, so nobody can have one made for them and nobody can be added by hand.

Only exchange access and linking are gated, never the bot

The account you get is complete apart from two things: it holds no API key, and its Telegram user is not yet linked to a risbot.io account. Everything that is configuration works from the first message - Risk Management, the daily loss limit, trading days, Sniper presets, your symbol list, the notification switches and the app lock. You can set the bot up completely, change your mind twice, and never touch an exchange or link an account.

What waits on the connection is anything that reads or writes the exchange: placing or previewing an order, the Positions panel, your wallet balance and Performance. Ask for one of those before connecting and the bot says so rather than failing:

Connect an exchange key on the website first - see your account page.

Placing or previewing a trade waits on a second thing too: your Telegram account has to be linked to a risbot.io account, which is also what puts you on a plan and its limits. Try either one unlinked and the bot says so instead of failing:

This bot is not linked to a Risbot account. Register on the website and link this Telegram account, and trading is enabled. Your settings are unaffected.

This is the order on purpose

You get to configure the whole bot, and see what it would do, before you hand over a key or link an account. The gate is on exchange access and on being linked, not on the rest of your account, so nothing about the setup is locked behind trusting either one first.

What you need before you start

  • A Telegram account. The bot's controls are a chat. Connecting your exchange and linking your account happen on risbot.io.
  • A Bybit account, and preferably a sub-account on it to fund and trade from. A sub-account cannot withdraw at all, so a key created there cannot take money off Bybit even if it is stolen - Connecting Your Exchange covers why this is the recommendation.
  • A risbot.io account, with that Telegram account linked to it. Everything up to placing a trade works without this; the trade itself does not - see Plans for what a linked account is then limited to.

That is the whole list. The first trade here is one you place by hand from the bot.

The three steps

  1. Connecting Telegram - find the right bot, check that it is ours, and open the main menu.
  2. Connecting Your Exchange - create a Bybit API key with the permissions the bot needs, and connect it from your account page on risbot.io.
  3. Your First Trade - build one trade by hand, see what it will cost before it is sent, and send it. This step also needs your Telegram account linked to a risbot.io account, or sending is refused the same way an unconnected exchange is.

One setting to read before trading

Max Risk Per Trade is the ceiling every position is sized against, and a new account starts at 1% of total balance. It is the number that decides how large every trade becomes, so it is worth reading before the first one rather than after.
