App Lock
Password-protecting the bot's control panel.
App Lock puts a password on the bot. Once it's on, closing the app and coming back later shows a password prompt instead of your panel - anyone who picks up your phone or opens your Telegram sees nothing until they type it.
Open it from Settings โ ๐ App Lock. There is no command that goes straight
there - /settings gets you to the Settings panel, and App
Lock is one tap on from it.
30 minutes
Status: Disabled
Note: Auto Lock counts inactivity - it starts when you Close the app, and reopening resets it.
๐ How this panel works9:35 PMThat is the screen on an account that has never set one up: no password, and the lock off.
Setting a password
๐ Set Password asks for a password twice - once to set it, once to confirm it matches - and needs at least 4 characters. Setting a password turns App Lock on immediately; there's no separate step to enable it afterward.
๐ Change Password replaces it the same way, but asks for your current password first.
๐ Enable App Lock is not a way around that. Tapping it before a password exists gives you a popup and moves nothing:
Set a password first to enable App Lock.Once a password exists the panel reads differently - Status: Enabled, the
password button offers to change rather than set, and the toggle offers to turn
the lock off:
30 minutes
Status: Enabled
Note: Auto Lock counts inactivity - it starts when you Close the app, and reopening resets it.
Tip: send /lock anytime to lock the app right now.
๐ How this panel works9:35 PMThe Tip line is part of that: it only appears while the lock is actually on,
because /lock has nothing to do until then.
Auto Lock
โฑ๏ธ Auto Lock is how long the app stays open after you hit ร Close before the password is required again. Reopening the app resets the timer, so it only counts time you actually left it alone.
30 minutes
How long after Close before the password is required again?
๐ How this panel works9:35 PMThe โ
marks your saved choice - on the matching preset if you picked one, and on
Custom if you typed a duration of your own. Either way the Current: line
at the top spells the saved value out in words, so a custom 45m reads back as
45 minutes there while the tick sits on Custom.
An account that has never chosen is set to 30 minutes, with the โ
on that
preset. The duration does nothing until App Lock itself is turned on.
| Preset | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Immediately | Locks the moment you close the app |
| 10 minutes | |
| 30 minutes | The default |
| 1 hour | |
| 1 day | |
| Custom | A number and a unit, e.g. 45m, 2h, 1d, 30s, 1.5d |
Custom asks for the duration as a reply:
Reply with a number followed by s/m/h/d, e.g. 45m, 2h, 1d, 30s, or 1.5d.Fractions are accepted, the units are seconds, minutes, hours and days, and the upper bound is 365 days. Anything the parser cannot read is refused and asked for again, with nothing saved.
Send /lock to lock it right now
You don't have to wait for Auto Lock. /lock locks the app immediately,
regardless of the timer.
Turning it off
๐ Disable App Lock asks for your current password, then turns the lock off. Your password itself is kept - turning App Lock back on later with ๐ Enable App Lock does not ask you to set a new one.
If you forget your password
Support can reset it for you. Message us and, once we've confirmed it's really you, we delete the password and turn App Lock off. You'll get this message when it's done:
Your Auto Lock duration is untouched by this - it's still set to whatever you last chose, ready for whenever you set a new password.
A reset is not the same as disabling the lock yourself
๐ Disable App Lock keeps your password. A reset destroys it.
That difference decides what you can do next. After disabling it yourself, ๐ Enable App Lock turns the lock straight back on with the password you already had. After a reset there is no password to turn back on, so that same button only gives you the popup above:
Set a password first to enable App Lock.Getting the lock back means going through ๐ Set Password and choosing a new one - which is the point. A reset is a way back into an account you were shut out of, not a way around a password you still know.
Support will never ask for your password
A reset clears your password rather than reading it back to you or asking what it was - we never see it or ask for it. If a message asks you to send your App Lock password anywhere, it isn't really us.
