Positions
Viewing and managing everything currently open.
Positions is the panel for trades that already exist. It shows what your account is holding right now and gives you the three things you can do about it: scale in, move the target, or cancel what has not filled.

๐ How this panel works9:35 PMEverything here is read live from the exchange each time the panel opens or refreshes. It is not a cached view.
The balance block
| Line | What it means |
|---|---|
| ๐ฆ Total Balance | Your wallet balance on the exchange. |
| ๐ฐ Available Balance | What is free to open new positions with - total, minus margin currently held. |
| ๐ Margin Usage | Margin tied up in open positions, in dollars and as a percentage of total. |
If the balance cannot be loaded, these lines are replaced by a warning and the rest of the
panel still works - the buttons do not depend on the balances. If the positions themselves
cannot be loaded, the panel does not open and you see Failed to load positions.
The commonest of those warnings is a key bound to an IP allowlist the bot's server is not on. It names the address to add:
Couldn't load balance - Bybit rejected the request because this server's IP isn't on the API key's IP whitelist.
Add this IP in Bybit โ API Management: 188.166.164.205Paste that address into the key's allowlist in Bybit and the balances come back on the next
refresh. Until you do, the bot cannot trade with this key or read its positions either, so
the lists below may read (0) even when something is open. See Connecting Your Exchange for the
same failure at connect time, where the account page shows the address with a copy button.
Open positions and pending orders
Both lists are counted in their heading, so an empty account reads
Open Positions (0) rather than leaving you unsure whether the panel loaded.
- ๐ข Open Positions - filled and live. Each line is the symbol, direction, size, and average entry price.
- ๐ก Pending Orders - placed but not yet filled, at the price you asked for. These hold margin but are not positions yet.
The distinction matters for every button below: Add To Position and Update Take Profit act on open positions, Close Pending Orders acts only on the unfilled ones.
The buttons
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| โ Add To Position | Scale into a position you already hold, within the risk the trade was allowed. See Add To Position. |
| ๐ Update Take Profit | Move the target on a live position. See Update Take Profit. |
| โ Close Pending Orders | Cancel unfilled orders. Open positions are untouched. See Closing. |
Closing a position is done on the exchange
There is no "close position" button here. The bot places every trade with its stop loss and take profit already attached, so a position closes when one of those is hit. To exit early, close it in the exchange app.
